White River
Today started off by getting up and making a quick decision to get my camper to Mount Rainier National Park. What a great way to start the day, getting in the car and getting away to the country! When I leave for school tomorrow people will be coming by to view the property and I didn't want the camper in the driveway and I do not take it into the city where school is located. I am pretty excited about the campsite that I got at White River Campground. I like staying there, first off it is a no reservations/first come first serve place, and second reason is because there is plenty of forest between each campsite. I am so thrilled because there is a little tiny water fall right behind my campsite where I will get to spend the next three nights. Staying there tonight would have been magical, however, I had to take care of some last minute things today here in my town and didn't finish up until late and it would have been to late tonight to make the trek to the mountain.
There is something about nature that calms the soul. The sounds of the birds and the rustle of the wind in the leaves is so soothing to me. Today was such a beautiful warm sunny day, I almost thought I was in southern California. I will cherish this time up here while it last and soak up all of the warm adventures I can get. I plan on doing at least 2 hikes this weekend, honestly, no matter where you are in the vicinity of Mount Rainier the scenery is absolutely breathtaking. I have been there a dozen times and it never gets old. Mount Rainier is the largest glacier mass in North America (or at least the US) during the summer the melting ice forms large waterfalls all around. I plan on dipping my feet in the cold glacier water this weekend to feel refreshed from the day of hiking. As I was setting up the site today there was a little frog right under where we clip our reservation slip and it scared the crap out of me. Funny how a tiny little creature unexpectedly can make a big ole human jump in fear.
I may not be writing for a few days since there will be no cell service where I am staying at. That is another great thing about the National Parks/Forest a lot of times you get to be technology free for a while and for me that is good for my mind. I get a lot of good downloads and good vibrations when I am not connected to what is going on in the world and I can be with my own thoughts and feelings. I look forward to sharing more of these little adventures in the future.
