SUV Tent
Since I will be living in a tiny trailer that has no standing room, I have been looking into ideas for a side tent. There is a company that makes side tents specifically for teardrop trailers and they run about five hundred dollars, they are very limited on numbers, in other words, I can't find one. I have been following other teardrop campers on line and found a great runner up to this customized tent - the SUV tent.
My friend Justin helped me set it up briefly in the driveway. Of course, this was not an ideal spot to try it out due to the concrete foundation, however, I wanted to see the different layers and the how-to before I go out on Labor Day weekend and try to set it up all on my own. Thank goodness we did this as a team, because it was a great help to understand how the poles go and best way to get things set up.
I will be using this tent to allow myself some extra breathing room during the rainy season and a place to be able to stand to change clothes, use my little buddy heater during the cold months, and a place to put my wet bike clothes so they don't have to stay in my car or trailer. I will take another picture of the tent when it is on the ground with stakes in the dirt. This tent was around three hundred dollars and the special parts of the tent have to do with all of the variety of straps and layers that help seal up the area around the side door of my tent. This part will allow me to open up my camper door during rainy weather without getting the inside of my camper soaking wet each time.
