Makeup and My Insecurities
Saturday morning I went by Starbucks before grabbing gas and heading to my day of training. When I was at Starbucks, I started a conversation with this gorgeous tall slender woman who was maybe in her fifties and smoking hot sexy. It was a lovely conversation about what we are both doing that day (we are both natural health practitioners) and I really enjoyed our connection. I want to share something that I noticed about myself during the conversation, I felt insecure for a brief moment because of her perfectly make-up decorated face. This woman looked to me as if she had a professional do her make up and she looked magazine photo shoot ready. You may be thinking to yourself, so what?!?! However, I feel that it is nice to share my travels around the states, and share my adventures in surfing and camping (blah blah blah) however, I want you to know that I am VERY human just like you and I have insecurities around certain topics that may surprise you.
I don’t wear make up on my face, I am talking NOTHING. In the past couple of years, I have probably applied eyeliner or mascara less than a handful of times and when I would do it, it would feel weird and foreign to me. I guess because I have lived my whole adult life without make up. However, I feel that girls who know how to do it look so beautiful and sometimes I struggle if I look like a washed up hippie next to the glamorous make up beauty. You may think this sounds a little crazy, but it is how I truly feel sometimes.
As human beings, we all have things we feel a little shy or insecure about. I don’t feel that one is better or worse than the other and I feel if we could all understand that even beneath the most bold, brave, beautiful, and talented person lies something they struggle with inside. These things could be mental, physical, social or, spiritual. We all have our own little voices (that don’t serve our best good) that we are working on drowning out with more self confidence and our belief that we are perfect as we are always. FLAWS and ALL.
