Surprise Encounters
This morning, I was leaving Clearwater, Florida enroute to pick up my bestie girlfriend Melanie in Orlando. I stopped at After Harbor Starbucks to get my buzz on when a nice man in maybe his sixties or seventies came outside to take pictures of my camper. (This happens regularly these days) However, what was really sweet is he offered to buy my coffee and I made the time to have some conversation with his group of friends for “coffee talk.”
This group of older men meet up every morning at the coffee shop before they all go their separate ways, and this made me think about how my papa enjoyed those morning coffee times with his local crew in RBS, Tennessee. What I learned this morning from the men was priceless. Their words of wisdom encouraged me to remember that I will NEVER REGRET taking the time out for myself right now to have the adventures and experiences that I am having.
I have certainly given up many of my previous comforts such as, my own bathroom/shower/toilet and a place to call my own home. However, in exchange for letting go of these safe comforts I have gained more confidence in my ability to adventure on my own, childlike enthusiasm I had slightly lost through the years….. just to name a few. Another thing I have gained is learning how to ask for help or assistance with things. (although a couple close friends would beg to differ) I am really opening up to the idea of asking friends and family for a place to stay, help with how to do things. I am not going to candy coat it though…. I have a long way to go in learning the balance of being a strong woman and not being too independent. It may take years to balance this out, but I am working on it.
I feel that life is always a learning lesson, and we move from one lesson to the next. There might be a cruise period in between lesson time, but for the most part we are learning in Earth School. This morning back at the Coffee shop one of the older men shared a story of his own life. When he was a younger man, he and his friends always talked about getting in a car and going on an adventure until they ran out of time or money (whichever came first) He said he always still regrets not going on that adventure. I really appreciate him sharing that story with me today, because I needed to hear it. It helps keep me grounded in the present moment, because sometimes I get wrapped up in the fact that I am not working on my next career and bringing in a lot more income.
I have dreamt about this type of adventure for a few years and I feel that if I didn’t take the plunge and go for it that I would regret it or not be satisfied moving forward (no matter what the next chapter). I am willing to continue to put off the comforts of a steady home, place to call my own for the call to adventure that my soul had to answer. My hopes in sharing my world with you is to give you permission (whenever time is right for you) to answer the call your soul receives before it is to late. I am not saying you need to travel across the world and do crazy shit - maybe it is something as simple as trying a new hobby you have ALWAYS wanted to do, but never made the time for. Maybe it is as simple as going to that state park that is near where you live to visit and see the beauty that is only an hour away from where you live?? We all have different calls to adventure and they come in all different styles and flavors…. so I want to ask you a question - What has your soul been wanting to experience that you feel is knocking on your door?? What have you been curious about since you were a child? Now a days, we have the internet and there is tons of information at your fingertips about what you want to do and where you want to go. If you need help, ask someone - go on YouTube and learn about it!! Maybe you want to start to grow your own lettuce garden or see the ocean for the very first time. I hope to inspire you to remember (the way the coffee stranger did for me this morning) You will never regret doing the things that you CANT STOP THINKING ABOUT!!! Happy Travels and Adventures for Life!!!!! We are here to have fun, be full of joy, and the ups and downs, but you didn't come to earth just to work and pay bills. Maybe today, you can start by just writing down on a sheet of paper what you would do if you had the time and the will. Once you get clear with that, write it down, and let the universe help create the HOW that will work out for you. I BELIEVE - DO YOU???
