So Thankful

When I initially planned my trip to Maui, it was a spur of the moment kind of decision. (like most things in my life) I had planned on going alone like I do so most things and didn’t think much about it since I am used to being alone. However, since I was going to Hawaii, I wanted to extend the invite to my mother since she has always enjoyed visiting me in Hawaii when I lived there and I thought she may or may not come. The only reason my mother would say “no” is because not only does she work a full time job, her and her husband also own one hundred acres of cattle farm and they are constantly working hard to ensure that is their additional stream of income in addition to her full time work. Honestly, because of my mother’s full plate, I didn’t think she would say yes to joining me, but she did!!

The last time I got to see momma was when my Granny transitioned to spirit in May of this year. It was a very sad and tough time for my mother and I feel bad for her sadness. I am so happy momma joined me to Maui because it gave us time to connect on a different level and my mother always learns so much about the world when we get to travel together. I got her a ticket to Seattle the day before travel so we could make the long journey to the islands together. She arrived at two pm and we journeyed to the woods where I am currently living on my friends property in my little camper. Mom and I cooked and ate our dinner outside by the camper and we let my friends children show us the chickens and the garden and wouldn’t you know it…. my mom even did the zip line with the boys. I was so proud of her for just going for it. We had a good time and was in bed before eight pm. We got up around two thirty and headed to the airport to be there by three thirty. Our flight was great to San Jose CA and then we were off to Maui on our second flight.

In all of my travels previously in life, i have always gotten a rental car and were carrying bags and there to sight see, however, this trip was to stay at our hotel area and attend a conference so we didn’t need a rental car. This trip was momma’s first experience riding the bus. I am not an expert bus rider, but I love a good challenge and we took three different busses to get across the island to our destination. This gives my mom a chance to see how other people live, how people commute that don’t have cars and such. Where I grew up, you pretty much have to have a car to get somewhere, but in other places in the world and United States, many people don’t have cars or don’t use them - they use the bus.

This is just one example of what can be learned by traveling. This is another reason I am happy to live in my camper for the time being because it gives me the opportunity to travel and have experiences that I enjoy and share them with people I love.

Tomorrow I am headed to Las Vegas for a few days of conference and this is the very first time that I will be visiting there. I have already looked at the map where my hotel and realized that there is a Mono Rail system that can drop me off right where I am staying and it is a great way to commute up and down the Vegas Strip. I am pretty certain that I will be happy to see the iconic things there and relax in the sunshine by the pool. Winter is pretty much here in Washington, Rain, clouds, and cold temps….. so I am happy to travel to the desert for a few days of inspirational talk at the Hay House Live event.
